COVID guidelines


Staying in a hotel before COVID, once felt like a luxury and an adventure, for many of us it now creates stress, anxiety and concern. Similar to the changes you have made at home and in your daily lives, we have done the same at the Carlton George. Our hope is that the actions we take helps eliminate that stress and anxiety and bring the excitement and joy of a break away.

  • Our highest priority is to keep everyone safe. Our teams are trained to strictly follow health and safety guidelines from the UK and Scottish governments. Our Managers and our hotel teams are there to aid everyone in following these guidelines.
  • We are frequently cleaning and sanitizing our high traffic public spaces, including our front desk, lifts, entrance doors, handrails, public bathrooms, restaurant, dining surfaces and seating areas. We have hand sanitiser ready for you at our entrance and key spots around the hotel.
  • We are now cashless, accepting credit card payments only. We do not accept cash.
  • We try to have as little of close contact with our guests as possible to keep everyone safe, and we ask you to please adhere to the social distancing measures to do the same.
  • Room occupancy, to the extent possible, will be distributed evenly per floor to limit crowding in hallways & lifts.
  • Please only ride our lifts with people you are rooming with.
  • We encourage you to use the stairs.
  • If you have a cough, fever or symptoms of COVID-19, please stay at home. If you are staying with us and experiencing symptoms, please stay in your room and call the reception. We will call the doctor to give advice.
  • Wash hands frequently in accordance with government guidelines (we surely will) and use available sanitizing stations.
  • Masks must be worn in public areas when not seated to eat or drink.


  • Our rooms are extra thoroughly cleaned and sanitised before each guest’s arrival, this includes our decanters which are sanitized and sealed. Once you’ve checked in, we won’t bother you. The mini bar decanters are sanitized and sealed Rooms will only be serviced upon request by our trained staff. If you have any requests, please inform our reception team.
  • Removal of high-touch amenities (magazine, pens, notepads, etc.) from rooms. These items will be available upon request from the front desk. All single use or disposable items in rooms will be removed and disposed of following each guest.
  • We also would like to ask our guests not to enter the hotel room when our employees are in the room for cleaning or maintenance.

  • Our local heroes are still on hand to help you connect with our beautiful city in a meaningful and memorable way.
  • Wanting to keep your distance, Glasgow has an abundance of green spaces to explore. We have been re-connecting with our beautiful city whilst taking our daily lockdown exercise, just ask and we will point you in the right direction.


  • Our credit card terminals are sanitized between check-in's. Though if you would prefer to pay in advance of arrival (and have not booked an advance purchase rate) please contact us at least 48 hours before your arrival to arrange this.
  • Room keys will be sanitized before distribution in a single use key wallet.


  • We recommend that you use our express check-out option so you can make your departure a quick and easy one.
  • When you’re departing the hotel, drop off your room key in the designated box.


  • Windows Restaurant is open to open to all guest, including outside guests.
  • There is a maximum seating time of 2 hours (COVID guidelines).
  • Reservations are necessary in the lounge and can be done via this website (click here for restaurant reservations) or by telephone +44(0)141 353 6373, the regular cancellation conditions apply.
  • Before entering the Windows Restaurant, please sanitise your hands at the station.
  • Opening times may differ, please ask for us for specific opening times.
  • Our tables are spaced according to social distancing regulation.
  • Only 3 households are allowed to sit together at one table without keeping social distance. There’s a maximum of 6 people per table.
  • All guests must be seated at a table and will be seated by our team.
  • Our team will be taking extra protective measures to ensure your safety based on local government regulations.
  • We are now cashless, accepting card payments only. We do not accept cash.
  • Due to social distancing, the Executive Lounge capacity has been reduced, you will be required to book a 2 hour timeslot before arrival or on check in for drinks in the evening.
  • The lounge service has reduced from 2 hours to 1 hour 45 minutes on Friday & Saturday evenings only. This is due to the need to close at 10PM to comply with the "curfew".
  • Only 2 households are allowed to sit together at one table without keeping social distance. There’s a maximum of 4 adults per table.
  • We clean objects in the lounge that we touch on a frequent basis. If you feel like you need an extra round of cleaning to feel more comfortable, please let us know.


  • All our employees are trained in the above measures.
  • There is no physical contact with the guests or the guest's property. We ask the employees to address each other and our guests if this will ever be forgotten.
  • The staff areas have been adapted and the workplaces are also amended in such a way that distance is guaranteed.
  • Our employees do not wear face masks.


  • For bookings made directly with us, via our website or by telephone the regular cancellation conditions apply. During these times we advise you to book a flexible rate to be sure you can still change and cancel free of charge.
  • For bookings made through an external party or booking website the management of your booking will be through an organization other than our hotel. Changes or further information can only be obtained through this organization. Please contact them.

Although there will be some noticeable changes during your next stay, we assure you that the hotel staples – clean, spacious rooms, incredible views and our smiling local heroes will be there waiting for you when you return.
