Binnenhof
Nationwide politics of The Netherlands
The most recognizable place in The Hague is the Binnenhof, where you can find the Ridderzaal, the Prime Minister's Tower and the Hofvijver. Through the famous entrance gate at the historic Binnenhof, you step right into the heart of our democracy. Over the centuries, the Binnenhof has been the center of political life in the Netherlands. This is the place where the most important events of the national history took place, but also where the future is made.

Palace Noordeinde
Working Palace of the King
Noordeinde Palace is located on Noordeinde, one of the most elegant shopping streets in The Hague. Noordeinde Palace is the working palace of the King. The state provides the palace to the head of state by law. Therefore, the palace has often been the center of important events of the royal family. The palace also includes the Royal Stables. In the palace garden you will find the Royal Archives, owned by the Historical Collections Foundation of the House of Orange-Nassau.

Mauritshuis
The best paintings in The Netherlands
The Mauritshuis is the most famous museum in The Hague. The Mauritshuis displays the best of Dutch painting from the time of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Various masterpieces, such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt, The Bull by Potter and The Putter of Fabritius can be seen in the magnificent museum rooms of the seventeenth-century monument.

Hiking Route
Prefer to explore The Hague on foot? The Hague is the city of the royal family. Discover the palaces, special churches and gardens and visit the Binnenhof; the center of political Holland. Go from the Pier of Scheveningen to the center of The Hague and see all the highlights in one day! This route can be requested at reception or viewed here.
Cycling route
At the Carlton Sports & Health Center you can rent various bicycles. Rent a normal bike or e-bike and hop on a bike to the center of The Hague. The route takes you from the beach of Scheveningen through the Scheveningen Harbour to the city center of The Hague with all its sights. This bike route can be requested from our Sports & Health Center staff or view the route here.
